GEOLOGY & GEOMETRY - Concrete, amethyst & onyx

THE STORY:
A stylish renovated and contemporary family home, run by two unique fury characters, The noble “Riley” & The court jester “Bentley”. Inspired by the shapes of precious gems and minerals in their natural state; and a play with angular lines, space, textures and the effects of light bouncing off various surfaces to create abstract shadows and silhouettes, that become the artwork in itself. Designed to offer an array of creative spaces to dwell, entertain, play, and garden. Rendered concrete and amethyst painted walls offer privacy, contrasted with linear, timber walls and seating, to create warmth and functional spaces to dwell. The detailed craftsmanship in the extensive carpentry work of roof, wall, floor & custom made furniture is a credit to the craftsmen. The pergola structure specifically designed to modernise the 1980’s home and offer an elevated space to entertain family & friends and overlook the backyard. Hard and soft wearing floor surfaces in exposed aggregate that reflects twinkling minerals in the light, and a soft lawn, offer spaces where Riley and Bentley can run & play. Plantings of succulents, sedges, epiphytes, maples and moss, add texture and ever-changing colour throughout the seasons. Bringing the outside inside, by transferring concrete colour, texture, shape and line onto surfaces for the newly renovated contemporary bathroom. A private space to soak and relax in the bath, or some may prefer to play!
