EXHIBITION "WAY OF LIFE GARMENT" - Lapis Lazuli, blood red & gold

THE STORY:
An invitation to collaborate, our inspirational journey began with a day at the “Dressmaker costume exhibition” set in a mansion at Ripponlea. What was to follow over the weeks, was the beautiful exchange between friends, like-minded souls, sharing hearts and the slow processes as we mono-printed, drew, ripped, hand stitched and sewed. Intimate conversations, laughter, tears, silent embrace, a very sacred space. Meshing our hearts and reclaimed fabrics and fibres together, to create and make a garment quite unique, our own interpretation of “Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly”. Little did we know, that each time we would meet, we would each receive from each other a deeper understanding of acting justly, loving mercy and walking humbly. The garment was then wired together, intimate ribbon inscriptions hand sewn onto the inside lining of the fabric. The garment was then hung on a hand-crafted golden frame, placed in a gallery, a holy space, that stood amongst other precious artworks. We were awarded with “A special mention” award to honor the collaborative work between two.

Thank you to my dear friend Narelle Spencer, for the invitation, she is a true Artist of the Word.
